Upgraded LG Optimus 7 (E900) from PDC10 to NoDo

So I was tired of waiting for the notification that the NoDo upgrade was available for the LG Optimus 7 (E900) phone I got from the PDC in 2010, and found this link (thank you “Noticed”):

With these instructions:

1. Start Zune
2. Turn off Data connection and Wifi on the Phone
3. Connect the Phone with the PC (USB)
4. Start the update search in Zune
5. About 3 seconds later, disconnect your PC from the internet (Turn WLAN off).
6. Zune finds NoDo-Update. Press OK.
7. Connect to the internet again and install the update.

Should work for all devices that can be updated by the VPN / dialup solution.

If it fails at point 5, try other timepoints for disconnecting, or try it again disconnected.

I have 35/35Mb FiOS service, so I found that I had to disconnect my PC from the Internet within 1 second, not the 3 seconds that this article stated. But after the third try, when I figured this out, I finally got the update found notification. Soon I saw what I wanted to see.

New blog location

So after being on geekswithblogs for several years I decided to move to WordPress to take advantage of some of the integration with social networking sites, out of the box support for posting from Word, and play with a new toy. Hopefully this will get me back into the habit of blogging regularly, which is something I fell out of when I started going back to finish my degree – which I should be finishing soon.
